大悲咒

58. 室皤囉耶

shì pó là yē。

觀世音菩薩現天女相

Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion appearing as female heavenly fairy.

譯:「室皤囉耶」為自在。

Shi Po La Ye represents being at ease/unrestraint.

意為諸天仙女均能成就自在妙道。

Meaning all heavenly fairy can all accomplish the wonderful practice/methodlogy of “being at ease/unrestraint”.

解說：此句是指菩薩在本咒中特現出天女法相，俾與諸天仙女接近，方便度化。

Explaination: This phrase is referring to Bodhisattva appearing as a female heavenly fairy in this mantra, to enable to be close to all female heavenly fairies, easier to cross over. (To the other shore)

由於諸天仙女多屬人間貞孝烈女，在世間未能得聞正法，致尚不能脫離生死輪迥。

Due to all/various female heavenly fairies mostly being chaste and obedient wife who defends to the death the husband on earth, not able to receive the correct path (teaching), still not able to leave this cycle of life and death.

所以，菩薩以悲憫心情，特為說法，使其得修清淨佛果。

Therefore Bodhisattva with comapsssionate inner essence of mind, specially expound on the teaching, to enable one to cultivate the “peaceful and pure” Buddha fruit (method).

因此，在家的婦女實應仰體菩薩慈悲，敬謹言行，

Thus, the women at home should comply and admire the Bodhisattva compassion, to be respectful and be cautious of the words and actions. (What one says and what one does)

一要孝順父母，敬重公婆。

First to be filial to the parents, to respect the parent-in law.

二要敬愛丈夫，親近子姪。

Secondly to love the hsband, to be close to the children/grandchildren.

三要禮敬親友，和睦鄰里。

Thirdly to be respectly of all friends and relatives, to have harmonious relationship with the neighbours.

加以常存善念，多做善行，溫淑謙讓，不生是非。

Moreover to always have compassionate thoughts, do good deeds always, to be warm and virtuous, modest and yielding and not to quarrel.

如此，自會得人敬重，獲菩薩庇佑，而能早得佛果，榮登極樂了。

In this manner, will obtain the respect from others, receive blessings from Buddha, will quickly obtain the fruit of Buddha, to reach utmost happiness.

菩萨示现天女身

This time around the Bodhisattva appears as a goddess.
因机逗教指迷津

Bestowing the teaching for those who are ready and guiding the confused.
循循善诱诲不倦

With gradual, gentle, and wholesome enticements, she instructs tirelessly.
慈悲平等摄群生

Her kindness and compassion are fair and equal in gathering in beings.
